ENTP is a MBTI personalty type.
Profile
Names
- The Innovator
- The Inventor
The Good
ENTP's don't typically screw around. They go right for the throat.
The Bad
ENTP's are known to be ruthless assholes. Many people see this as "bad". ENTP's see it as blatant honesty.
This is also interpreted as arrogance, which is closer to the mark. However, then ENTP earns his arrogance by testing what he knows, and frankly, if you have a problem with that, then it's your problem. :)
ENTP's have probably heard your point of view a billion times, defeated it a million times, and simply are not interested in it.
Argument as a Sport
ENTP's engage in argument as a sport.
The rules of the 'argument sport' are :
- The ENTP is right.
- If the ENTP is wrong, then he's learned something.
Because most people are unable or unwilling to defend their beliefs, they fail to see the second rule and believe that the ENTP always thinks he's right, when in fact, he's more than willing to be proven wrong — if a better argument is given to defeat his own.
The ENTP realizes that his point of view is only the best he knows. By defeating his argument, you are, in fact, replacing the current one.
Dominant Function
The dominant function of ENTP's (and their brothers the ENFP) is Extroverted Intuition, which makes them damn near psychic. :)
ENTP's use this to go to the heart of an issue quickly.

Discussion
I'm pretty sure Snape was an I. He does not exhibit the ebullience and charm that E's are generally able to summon on demand — even an argumentative ENTP. He also lived much of his life in secrecy and in his head.
