The nervous system is the primary control system of the human body.
Major Divisions of the Nervous System
The nervous system as a whole is divided into two major sections : the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
Central Nervous System
The central nervous system is the core of the nervous system. It is composed of the brain, brainstem and spinal cord.
Peripheral Nervous System
Somatic Nervous System
The somatic nervous system handles input from the various sense organs and output to the muscles.
Autonomic Nervous System
The autonomic nervous system handles input and output from the internal organs.
