Neuron is just a fancy word for "nerve cell". There are about 100 billion neurons in the human brain.

Types of Neurons

Sensory (Afferent)

Sensory, or Afferent neurons relay sensory information only.

Motor, or Efferent neurons relay motor information to muscles.

Interneurons connect Afferent and efferent neurons.
